Someone has decided that their old sofa isn't their problem but someone else's and has dumped it. Suspect that it is one of the houses that the sofa is in front of, it wouldn't be the first time they have dumped things outside their house. It is an absolute eyesore and lazy entitlement from the culprit, I hope you can get it removed and the owner identified and dealt with.
