Queueing to turn onto Sandy Lane because of parked cars

Reported via desktop in the Car parking category anonymously at 08:49, Thursday 8 September 2022

Sent to Hart District Council less than a minute later

Every morning you have to queue back to the Co-Op on Aldershot Road because of the cars parked on the side of Sandy Lane between the junction and the Crookham Park Roundabout! When you CAN overtake them you are on the wrong side of the road facing oncoming traffic that is usually going at speed off of the roundabout, which usually results in a stand-off and a lot of arm flapping and swearing as it is 'their right of way'! Some days the traffic backs up in both directions at the junction and also around the bend on Crookham Park by the school! Double yellow lines are needed as a matter of urgency along the stretch of Sandy Lane from the junction of Aldershot Road to the Crookham Park roundabout! Surely the cars would be able to park off of the road either in their respective driveways OR in the usually empty Memorial Hall car park?! If the cars were unable to park on the road, it would make it far safer for parents to cross the road with their young children on the way to the school for one thing (rather than have to cross behind parked cars and risk being hit by someone having to quickly move along into the next available gap before they get caught by oncoming traffic and back the queue up even further) and would also alleviate the traffic queues in the immediate vicinity?! I have reported this numerous times over the past few years, but it is becoming much worse and more dangerous each day and will not be long before there is a very nasty accident. PLEASE sort this out and make everyone's life easier and safer!! Thank you.
