Speeding traffic through the Lea and Merivale
Reported anonymously at 12:38, Fri 26 May 2017
Sent to Hampshire County Council and Hart District Council 2 minutes later
Early mornings and late evening there is constant speeding traffic traveling to and from the Lea into and out of Merivale. Not only are these roads next to a school but there are family and pets. The speeds these cars travel is crazy and the offending drivers are accelerating at top speed.
Worse still are the cars, who owners clearly live in the Lea area, have wide bore exhausts and their cars can be heard from a distance and are so loud when they pass the houses. They are often racing and braking hard causing them to skid which ends up sounding like there has been a crash outside! It is pure antisocial behaviour and very dangerous.
The local residents are very tired of the offending drivers and we desperately need some police presence in this area! Reports to the police fall on deaf ears, will the council help?
Council have said they have little money to act and as there has been no series accident or fatality there would be no action at this time.
So instead of being proactive we need to wait for one of these speeding idiots to crash into a resident before we can look at his issue again.
I appreciate there is only a limited supply of funds but with little or no police presence in the entire town and an inactive council whay happens next?
It's a real daily lottery just pulling out the driveway when faced with cars doing 50-60mph on two blind bends. All I hear and see every morning and evening is the whoosh and high reving of these persistent idiot motorists who actually appear to live in joining roads. Or they tail gate you up the entire length of the road because they are pissing themselves to go as fast as possible!
Let's just hope a child or cyclist isn't seriously injured!

White vans, motorbikes and cars with wide bore exhausts continue to rag it up and down Merival, Leawood and Tavistock. All coming or going to The Lea. What great neighbours!

Day in and day out this still goes on. How about some Police presences.

15.3.18 Another late night of cars ragging it through local roads, in and out of The Lea. Wide bore exhaust blarring as they set off at full acceleration. Looking forward to the increase in council tax for the ineffective local Police.

Still very significant problem with high speed dangerous driving in the Lea , Lea Wood rd and Merivale area. It is only a question of time before there is a serious incident. This problem has persisted for some time with the few drivers who cause the problem having no regard for residents and other road users, but why should they as they can carry on with no fear of any action by any authority.
